In-person dermatology consultation in Madrid
Dr Álvaro González Cantero
Specialist assessment of psoriasis and other inflammatory skin diseases at Grupo Pedro Jaén
My in-person consultations take place in Madrid at Grupo Pedro Jaén, a leading dermatology centre with advanced diagnostic and therapeutic technology and a clinical structure focused on high standards of patient care.
It is within this setting that I carry out my clinical work as part of the Psoriasis and Inflammatory Skin Diseases Unit, alongside a team experienced in the management of complex conditions requiring rigorous, specialist and personalised assessment.
An in-person consultation allows a comprehensive assessment of patients with psoriasis and other inflammatory skin diseases, combining clinical examination, review of the patient’s medical history, evaluation of the overall impact of the disease and, when required, additional investigations or more advanced treatment strategies.

A consultation focused on precision and comprehensive care
During an in-person consultation, I assess more than the skin alone. My aim is to understand precisely what is happening, how the disease is affecting the patient and which strategy may be most appropriate at each stage.
This is particularly important in conditions such as:
· psoriasis;
· atopic dermatitis;
· hidradenitis suppurativa;
· and other inflammatory skin diseases.
In these cases, direct examination makes it possible to refine the diagnosis, assess the true level of disease activity, review previous treatments, examine difficult-to-assess areas and, when required, incorporate an assessment of comorbidities or other associated factors.
When can an in-person consultation be particularly valuable?
Although an in-person consultation is the usual and most comprehensive form of assessment, it may be particularly valuable in situations such as:
- an initial assessment of psoriasis or another inflammatory skin disease;
- complex or difficult-to-control cases;
- the need for a detailed physical examination;
- diagnostic uncertainty;
- initiation or adjustment of advanced therapies;
- the need for additional investigations;
- and patients seeking a more comprehensive and personalised assessment from the outset.
In-person consultations and continuity of care
When appropriate, in-person consultations can be combined with online consultations and second opinion consultations.
This allows follow-up to be adapted to each patient’s needs and can provide greater flexibility, particularly in chronic diseases requiring regular reviews, treatment adjustments or medium- and long-term monitoring.
For some patients, an in-person consultation is the essential starting point. For others, it forms part of a combined model in which in-person and online reviews are used at different stages according to clinical need.
If you are looking for a specialist in-person assessment
If you would like an in-depth assessment of your psoriasis or another inflammatory skin disease, an in-person consultation in Madrid may be the most appropriate way to begin or reassess your management.
My aim is to provide rigorous, personalised care based on the best available evidence, within a highly specialised dermatology setting.
